Ok, a few more pieces of upcycled furniture. The first was an easy one. This large old cabinet was loaded with character and charm. All that was necessary was a few minor repairs, a good cleaning and raised up with legs.
Next was this beautiful old dresser that was looking a bit tired and dull. It also needed minor repairs.
Then on to the fun part of lightening and brightening. I painted it a dark grey with white drawers. For the top I used a metallic silver glaze with the Paisley Allover stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils. It adds an elegent look with this barely there design.
This is a great project for beginner stencilers because small mistakes are not noticeable. As usual, the finish is clear wax for protection and dark wax to bring out the great detail. I left the beautiful hardware because it was rusted to perfection.
Last was this small side table.
Very pretty and in great condition but like the dresser, a little dull so I painted, stenciled and waxed it to match.
Now on a personal note…After a very fun week of junking our way thru Oregon and Idaho it ended on a sour note when we arrived home to find that we had been robbed. The positive side is that no one was hurt, the damage was minimal, and all the stolen items can be easily replaced. But it still makes us mad as hell that some lazy low life thinks he has the right to invade our space and steal our possessions that we have worked so hard to acquire. But the real topper was when I returned to work and was suspended for a mistake I had made on a sales transaction before vacation. After almost 14 years of service my job is in jeopardy for a, very small dollar amount, honest mistake while the scum bag that deliberately stole from us will probably never get caught or have to pay. Thank you for letting me vent.
