Project Description

Rusty Old Trunk

This rusty, crusty trunk was crying for help. It had been beat up bad and needed to be saved. The first step was a good cleaning, then dealing with the rusty metal. I covered over the rusted edges at the bottom with wood trim, but the pieces on the top were damaged beyond repair and had to be removed. I used fabric with a raised design that mimicked the look of the metal and was easy to fit over the odd shaped curved top. I added more hardware and painted it all in silver. Then I painted the trunk with a teal blue color, and covered that with a silver glaze.
