Well, a couple more pieces of free furniture upcyled. I’m working my way to the back of my storage shed where the good stuff is.
My first project was this tall storage cabinet.
Although the sides are particle board, the trim on the front and the doors are oak. It was looking a bit dark and dated, so after a light sanding and bonding primer, I brightened it up with white paint and also lightened up the hardware. The back had to be replaced so it was a great opportunity to add a fun graphic stencil before I attached it. Now, it’s still a very useful piece, it just has a much more updated look.
Next was this small piece on casters. I’m not quite sure what it’s original purpose was but I thought it would make a great bench.
It did have to be cut down a little to make it the proper height. Then after sanding and priming, I painted it black. To all those people who love wood grain, remember this was ugly fake wood grain and needed to be covered. I finished it off with this pad in an updated pattern and color to add a little cush for the tush.
Neither of these pieces are heirloom quality but they are nice looking functional pieces for someones home which will keep their trip to the dump delayed for now.
